TRACK TWO

Welcome back to UNITED! This year, we're transitioning to a book discussion format. Teens and parents will have separate discussion groups, but both will explore the same book—one in the Fall and another in the Winter. As our returning teens continue to mature, we now want to build on their foundation—focusing on knowing God more deeply in the Fall and developing stronger discernment in the Winter.

FALL - ATTRIBUTES OF GOD (THEOLOGY)

Jesus said eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent (John 17:3).

God wants us to know him! But how often do we slow down and truly study God’s character—His attributes—and intentionally pursue deeper knowledge of who He is?

In our Fall study, we will explore Thaddeus Williams' book Revering God: How to Marvel at Your Maker. The chief reason we exist is to glorify and enjoy God. But for many, God remains a vague cloud of cosmic kindness, a super-sized projection of ourselves into the sky, or an impossible-to-please killjoy. Who is God, really? Who is this being we should thank for our next breath?

Williams will take us through the following attributes of God:

Reliable: God Tells the Truth

Enjoyable: God Satisfies

Victorious: God Rules

Eternally Loving: God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Redemptive: God Saves Sinners

Expressive: God Makes Beauty

"There is truly no more pride-crushing, joyous, and life-giving pursuit than the reverent study of your Maker."

WINTER - DISCERNMENT (APOLOGETICS)

After the New Year, we'll shift into developing stronger discernment. Spurgeon said, "Discernment isn't knowing the difference between right and wrong. It's knowing the difference between right and almost right." In a world where many false teachings—like New Thought and progressive Christianity—wear Christian labels, discernment is more crucial than ever. My prayer is that this book study will help us develop the spiritual wisdom to recognize truth from error, guarding our faith against subtle lies that can easily deceive even the well-intentioned.
